How Can Our Transcription Service Impact Your Podcast?
Creating a transcription from a podcast is not an easy process – it’s actually hard work – but these are the reasons why you’d want to hire us to do it for you:
1. IMPROVE SEO
Once your episode is in text form, you can place it on your website next to your podcast player for easy access for your listeners. The added benefit is that the text will be filled with keywords about your topic or niche and Google will use that content to rank up for those topics. Search engines expect something between 500 to 1000 words at least to be considered in the search. The longer the piece about a specific topic, the more Google will weigh it in the searches for that particular topic. And with an average of 6,000 per 30 mins episode, you can be sure that’s an amazing boost to your site!
2. CONNECT WITH A LARGER AUDIENCE
As opposed to audio, written content can be consumed by anyone with a screen and doesn’t require headphones or a quiet space. Your listeners will be able to read your episode from anywhere and even search through your previous content to see what you’ve covered in your podcast. The added benefit is that you’ll be able to do the same to see if you’ve ever mentioned a specific topic you’d like to revisit, which is an added bonus when thinking about new topics to talk about.
Having your podcast in text form makes it easy to link in social media, blogs or websites. Internet users can link to the episode and get their point across faster by quoting parts of your episode. It makes it easier to reference as important parts can be copied into a Facebook post or a tweet or even an image. Your voice can be shared and linked to directly through the power of the Internet, getting your message out there and distributed to millions of people.
Transcripts are essential for the deaf and/or hard of hearing. Akin to subtitles on TV, they serve as a much needed window into your content for those that wouldn’t be able to listen to it otherwise, meaning more followers for your podcast. It’s also a great aid for those users that struggle to understand English speakers because they are learning it as a second language or don’t understand a particular accent allowing them to follow along as they listen.
5. ADDITIONAL AVENUES TO GROW
Once you have your podcast in text form it’s easier to jump onto other avenues where to share your voice. This can be done through emails, infographics, getting it translated into other languages, converting it into a blog post or making a video out of the podcast audio and using the text as subtitles for said video. The Internet search engines like Google expect big pieces of written content and you can tap into all of them once you’ve had your audio transcribed.
The Style Guide
Our Transcription Writer specialists will write down what they hear as your podcast plays along. All of our transcription specialists are human beings. They use tools such as a player with the ability to rewind with the press of a key, headphones, writing software, etc.
As with our Shownotes, we have a style guide we follow for all podcast episodes we transcribe at Podcast Rocket and it’s good to go over some examples of what to expect when you order one from us.
The point of having a style is to make it easy for your listeners to follow. We make sure to keep track of the format, spell names, how to structure recurring segments, describe repeat cues, and more. By having a consistent format, your readers will spend their time where it matters, in the content and not trying to figure out how to read the piece.
As such we’ll make sure to break long speeches into readable paragraphs, distinguish speaker names from their lines, identify resources (e.g. websites), etc.
We use the standard convention to note the speaker in bold text at the beginning of a paragraph followed by a colon before their dialogue. We will keep their dialogue in easily digestible paragraphs followed by a line break. We will also insert a new line when changing to another speaker.
Rob: This is Podcast Rocket, where we help you be heard above the noise and today we have a special guest Nuria who is here to tell us all about podcast transcripts and how they can help increase your reach.
Nuria: Hi, thank you for having me in the show.
Wherever possible, we will identify the speakers but in some cases that won’t be possible so we’ll denote them as Voices. This is common when inserting an advert or an intro that wasn’t recorded by the normal host.
Rob: Thank you for joining us. Before we dive in, a word from our sponsor.
Voice 1: When you think of editing your podcast, think Podcast Rocket.
It’s not uncommon for speakers to interrupt each other during a podcast interview. We usually transcribe these with dashes.
Rob: Alright, so the important thing about transcribitions is that—
Nuria: You mean transcriptions.
Speakers will sometimes pause, restart sentences or shorten words. These are not always removed or altered from the edited episode due to flow, change in cadence or because they add to the charm. We will reflect that in the transcription.
Rob: So you mean I’ve be… I’ve been saying that wrong all along?
Nuria: Just ‘cause you say it differently, doesn’t… I mean.. It’s funny.
During your podcast guests and hosts alike will reference resources that will be of interest to your listeners. We will make sure to find them for you and link them up for convenience.
Rob: Well if our listeners wanted to know more about podcast transcriptions where should they go?
Nuria: For more information they should visit www.PodcastRocket.net
It’s also convenient for readers to know when a host is quoting or making a point through a possible statement and we’ll denote this with quotes.
Rob: It is very useful to find all the information in one place, I had someone come to me the other day and say, “Oh, I found all the information I needed about podcast transcription services in one single place when I logged into that website.”
